The accepted industry norm is that 5th Wheel or Travel Trailers sway with side-to-side movement even when parked, chocked and leveled. This is due to play in the springs and shackles that mount the suspension to the frame along with play in the tires. Never tow a trailer down the road without a proper brake controller. A proportional based brake control offers the smoothest braking response to almost any stop under control. Through the use of a sensing device, the brake control can determine the tow vehicle’s rate of deceleration no mater what trailer is being towed and then apply the trailer brakes to match keeping the tow vehicle and trailer under control.
